Dario Western is a Manchester (UK) born nudist, but has resided in Brisbane since the age of 11 in 1982. Although he had previously been aware of the nudist and naturist lifestyle as a child and adolescent, he finally became a nudist at the age of 19 in 1990 when he first attended the (now defunct) Sunrays swim club in The Gap. In 1994, he joined the Brisbane Forum Social Club and was a regular member up until just before its demise in 2007 when it was renamed the South East Community Sun Club. He was the last Secretary for the Free Beaches Australia lobby group, which was founded in 1988 as Free Beaches Association of Queensland and folded in 2015. Dario has appeared in the media as a nudist several times since 1999, and is the Brisbane organizer for the annual World Naked Bike Ride. He gained mainstream attention in 2013 when he recreated the bike ride for post punk band Violent Soho’s single “In The Aisle”, and has also dabbled in nude modelling for photographers and artists alike as well as done glamour and nude model photography on an amateur basis since 1993 when he trained and worked with the agency B&B Modelling Agency in 1994. Some of his models have been published in Australian Sun & Health and TAN Magazine since 1996. He founded Brisbane Naturists in 2007 originally as a Yahoo! Group and Facebook group, then also took to organizing real life meetups on several platforms hosting the group. His interests and hobbies include: reading, music, songwriting, playing guitar and keyboards, fan club management, record collecting, netsurfing, charity work, Christian fellowship, live gigs and going to the annual clothing optional festival ConFest.
